Three names, one promise
You will see three names on this site, and they each play a different role:
- Journey Secure — your Authorized Independent General Agency. We represent Return Assured and guide you through enrollment, from your first question to your completed membership.
- Return Assured℠ — the membership itself. For a one-time fee of $350, Return Assured membership protects you for life: if you pass away more than 75 miles from home, you are brought home with dignity, at no additional cost to your family.
- APASI — the service provider behind the plan. APASI (American Pre-Arrangement Services, Inc.) is the pioneer of the Travel Assurance Plan, and Return Assured is a service-mark partner of APASI. APASI’s experienced team actually carries out the services: preparing your loved one and arranging transport home.
How APASI and Return Assured fit together
Return Assured is the membership program you enroll in; APASI is the organization that fulfills it. When a member passes away while away from home, one call to APASI starts everything — their team handles the preparation of the deceased and the transportation home, working with funeral professionals at both ends. There are no caps on covered expenses and no out-of-pocket costs to the family for covered services. One important rule: APASI must be the first call. If APASI is not contacted, benefits cannot be provided, and costs for services a family arranges on its own cannot be reimbursed.
To report a death, call APASI’s 24/7 lines at the time of death: US/Canada 1-800-947-8306; outside US/Canada 1-301-656-6569. APASI has been doing this work since 1994 — the original travel assurance provider — and serves more than 400,000 members.
